The Media Awareness Network - Our Mission
The Media Awareness Network is a Canadian not-for-profit centre of expertise and excellence in media education. Our vision is to ensure children and youth possess the necessary critical thinking skills and tools to understand and safely and actively engage with media. Our mission is to be the leading Canadian provider of media education resources and awareness programs for educators, parents, children and youth.
In executing our mission, we are guided by our underlying philosophy of educating, not advocating, and by our fundamental goals to:
- develop and deliver high-quality Canadian-based media education resources
- provide leadership in advancing media literacy and contributing to the development of public policy on issues related to the media
- build broad public support for media education
