Canadian Tobacco Warning Labels

Old Labels

Each of these warnings was required to take up 25 per cent of the front and back of the cigarette package:

Smoking can kill you

Cigarettes cause cancer

Cigarettes are addictive

Smoking during pregnancy can harm your baby

New Labels (June 2000)

Health Canada believes that a picture says a thousand words. These new warnings have to take up 50 per cent of the cigarette package, and should be posted in both English and French.
