Professional Development for Media Educators in New Brunswick
In-service training of teachers in New Brunswick is conducted through the Department of Education. In 1999, 2000 and 2001, the department included three-day media education training sessions at its well-attended annual summer institutes. No training in media education was offered during its 2002 summer institutes.
In 1999, the department partnered with TVNB community television (TV New Brunswick) to create a new television program entitled, the Media Studies Series. In this project, secondary Media Studies students from 26 schools created 13 television programs that were broadcast through the community television channels. Each program in the series featured works from two schools.
