MNet Review

videoA diverse group of teens freely admit that they get a kick out of media violence and yet, they feel at the same time something should change. Enough is Enough is a creative and lively look at the projects some teens undertake - in theatre, on video - to give voice to those concerns. The video puts youth front and centre, and shows them as active media producers as well as avid media consumers. Black adolescents briefly discuss the ways in which race and crime are linked in media depictions, and issues of sexual violence are also mentioned. The film doesn't rest on any one topic for any appreciable length of time but might work well as a catalyst to open up discussion on the media violence issue.

The video was originally shot in French and then redubbed in English, so it's potentially a useful way for students in other parts of Canada to see that their Quebec compatriots are as hooked into media violence as they are. Besides, they're also likely to respond to the lively opening song and interplay between live-action and animation.

Enough is Enough can be ordered online from the National Film Board.
