The Media Awareness Network (MNet) is committed to respecting the privacy of its online users and members. This policy will tell you what information is collected when you visit our site or become an individual member of MNet, and how that information is used.
Information we collect from online visitors
Browsing
When you visit our web site, our Internet Service Provider (ISP) makes a record of your visit and collects the following information for statistical purposes:
MNet makes no attempt to identify you or track your individual browsing activities.
Cookies
This web site does not use persistent cookies, which are saved on your hard drive to track you individually as you browse through sites over time.
It does use session cookies so the Content Cart can process your request to print specific documents. When you click on the button “Add to the Content Cart,” the site places session cookies on your hard drive to remember which documents you would like to print. It does not track you as an individual. As soon as you quit your browser, the session cookies are deleted.
This web site does not use any other cookies.
E-mail
We will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. We will only use your e-mail address for the purpose for which you have provided it. Your e-mail address will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purpose without your consent.
Submit a Lesson
If you submit a lesson to be added to our lesson library, the lesson may be posted on our site. Your name and province/state/country will only be posted with your consent.
Submit a Tip
If you submit a tip to be added to our For Parents section, the tip may be posted on our site. Your name and province/state/country will only be posted with your consent.
Parents Poll
We do not collect any personal information about you when you register your vote in a Parents Poll.
Feedback
Any feedback you e-mail us through our "report problems" button at the bottom of each page will be used for site performance evaluation. We will not use this information for any other purpose without your consent.
Discussion forums
When you participate in an MNet discussion forum, your message and your user name will be available for all participants in the forum to see. Any information you wish to keep private should not be posted to a discussion forum.
Information we collect from individual members
An individual who wishes to become a member of MNet is asked to provide his or her name, address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail address. Information about occupation and the individual’s organization is optional and may be given at the individual’s discretion.
MNet maintains a database which records the information provided by MNet members as set out above. MNet will not sell or lend this information to third parties, nor will it disclose personal information about its members unless required by law to do so.
